1/6 vs 1/12 vs 1/18 Figures: How to Choose a Scale

Choose a figure by its listed scale and actual dimensions, then check the specific character and version. A scale label is a ratio, not a promise that every figure in that scale will have the same height.

What does the scale mean?

A 1/6 scale model represents an object at one sixth of its reference size; 1/12 and 1/18 use one twelfth and one eighteenth. For an illustrative 180 cm human, those ratios would be 30 cm, 15 cm and 10 cm. These are calculation examples, not standard heights for all collectible figures.

Scale Illustrative height for a 180 cm human Check before ordering
1/6 30 cm Body proportions, clothing fit and display space.
1/12 15 cm Actual figure height and accessory dimensions.
1/18 10 cm Character size and compatibility with vehicles or scenery.

The different heights reflect the specific designs. They do not change the meaning of the scale ratio.

Will accessories from the same scale fit?

Not necessarily. Wrist and neck connectors, body proportions, clothing patterns and hand grips can differ between manufacturers and product lines. Check the accessory’s stated compatibility and measurements rather than relying on scale alone.

For example, SA011B clothing is a clothing-only listing for 1/6 figures. It does not include a body or head sculpt, and the fit still depends on body proportions.

Measure the complete display

Allow space for a base, raised weapon, extended wings or a vehicle where supplied. Use the actual product dimensions and photos; a figure’s standing height alone does not describe its full display footprint.

Browse JOYTOY figures or model kits, then compare individual listings for the character and format you want.
